A power outage on Sunday will affect around 3,000 customers in and around Tisdale.
Between 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., power will be shut off to a substation in the Tisdale area.
Scott McGregor with SaskPower’s media relations office said all residents and businesses in the town and surrounding rurals will be affected.
“We are actually upgrading 18 km of power line to help meet the growing demand for the region,” McGregor said.
The entire substation needs to be shut off in order for crews to do the work safely.
“We have been in touch with community representatives, healthcare facilities, industrial customers, care homes, and schools to ensure that disruption is minimal,” McGregor said. “We realize it is not ideal to have power shut off but we appreciate everyone’s patience while we do this necessary work.”
The outage was planned for earlier in the morning to decrease the disruption to residents.
“If people sleep in on Sunday then they won’t notice much of an impact at all,” Mcgregor said.
He suggests making sure cellphones are charged ahead of the outage. More tips on planning for an outage can be found at saskpower.com.
