The Tisdale Kinettes hope to bring some Christmas cheer into the community with a decorating contest.
Residents are asked to decorate their yards and homes in whatever ways they would like and submit pictures to the Kinettes.
“I just want to see a little bit of effort,” organizer Rikki-Lyn Shellito said. “Lights, could be minimal, whatever. I just want everyone to do something in their yard.”
Shellito said she saw other towns and cities doing something similar and thought it would be a good idea to bring it to Tisdale. She said with the current climate, something like this might help bring the Christmas spirit up a notch.
When residents are done decorating their winter wonderland, they are asked to take pictures and send them to kinetteschristmas@gmail.com. Residents are also asked to have their address listed as well so the Kinettes can put a map together to allow people to come check out their decorated yards.
“I just hope that families can go around, and drive around and enjoy the lights that people put up,” Shellito said.
There will be prizes as well for the three best decorated homes. Shellito said they are still working on prizes, but they could include things like goodie trays, and other Christmas-related items.
The deadline to submit your home is Dec. 14 and judging will take place on Dec. 18.
