Two fires near Resource last week had the Melfort Fire Department busy.
On Wednesday afternoon, members responded to a large fire in a bush east of Resource.
While strong winds pushed embers past the front line of attack, two bulldozers created a fire break to contain the fire. The edge of the fire break was extinguished to prevent any hot spots from jumping the break.
When the edge and hot spots of the fire were extinguished, crews returned to base.
Meanwhile, a yard fire west of the Resource curve was called into the department while the bush fire was still active.
Several outbuildings were on fire as well as part of the yard when crews arrived on scene.
A fire line was established to protect the house and buildings, so firefighters could work the fire away from the house.
All hot spots were extinguished and the attending members were able to assist with the nearby bush fire.
