The North East School Division (NESD) recently named its new Director of Education.
Stacy Lair has been appointed to the role following the retirement of the current director, Don Rempel.
Lair has served as Superintendent of School Services for NESD since 2018. Before that, she has served as vice-principal, principal, as well as practical and applied arts teacher and program coordinator within the division.
In a media release, the NESD said that Lair has been instrumental in developing partnerships with the northeast community, and establishing focus, supports and measures for student success in the school division.
She has served as the interagency co-lead with representatives from the Ministries of Justice and Social Services, as well as the provincial leadership team.
“Every student deserves the best that we have to give them,” said Lair. “I believe my work is to create a system that empowers educators as they support student learning so every day, every student in every classroom benefits from their learning environment and instruction. I look forward to the opportunities ahead with North East School Division.”
“We are very pleased to appoint Stacy to this leadership role within our school division,” said Board Chair Kevin Graham. “We look forward to the successful contributions she will make in this role as she leverages her experience, professional relationships, and familiarity with North East School Division to achieve the strategic priorities we have established as a board.”
Graham added the board is grateful for the 13 years of service from Don Rempel as Director of Education.
“His leadership has contributed to the significant successes of the school division, its staff and the students they serve.”
The NESD has 22 schools found in 13 communities in the northeast including Carrot River, Bjorkdale, Tisdale, Melfort, and Porcupine Plain.
