911 operators handle hundreds of calls a day and many are not real emergencies. In fact, some are just downright ridiculous. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Saskatchewan has compiled its annual list of the 10 most unusual 911 calls they received in 2024. Here they are:
- A resident reported that someone had taken their tambourine during a party.
- A caller asked for help with a math problem.
- A caller asked for help with a broken washing machine.
- Someone reported that their cat was being “mean.”
- A caller reported that someone had thrown their ice cream on the ground.
- A resident called for help with unlocking their cellphone.
- Someone called to report a bee inside their house.
- A resident called to report a fox “wandering the neighborhood and scaring a local cat.”
- A call came in from a child who said their parents were forcing them to clean their room.
- A caller said their emergency was that they didn’t recognize someone on their social media friend list
