The Melfort liquor Loft in the Stonegate Shopping Centre is ready for business.
A soft opening for the new to Melfort liquor retailer was held on Friday for staff, friends, and family members.
Owner Trent Zwingli told northeastNOW it is a relief to open ahead of Christmas.
“We had hoped to open a little bit sooner but everything is coming along nicely and we are definitely ready for the Christmas week coming up,” Zwingli said.
With travel being discouraged this holiday season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Zwingli anticipates the store will be quite busy.
“People are staying put so I think they will come and get their favourite bottle of wine and favourite munchies from us, we have a wide selection,” Zwingli said. “We have everything that everyone needs to survive the pandemic and the Christmas break.”
The liquor Loft carries pierogies, cabbage rolls and Big Bobs Fine Meats, mix, ice, giftware as well as greeting cards.
“We try to have everything that would be needed to have a small get together,” Zwingli said.
According to Zwingli, he had no hesitations with opening a new business in the midst of a pandemic.
The liquor store portion of the building will be open to the public at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday while the loft portion is still under construction.
“The loft part should be ready by the end of January but it’s not a big rush because due to COVID the rental venue is not operational,” Zwingli said. “Hopefully the pandemic doesn’t last much longer with the vaccine on its way.”
The Melfort liquor Loft website is up and running with more details including hours of operation.
