Melfort’s new city manager is adjusting well to his new position.
Adam Homes told northeastNOW that the mayor, council, and administration has done a great job of welcoming him and getting him up to speed.
Homes, originally from Regina, was previously working with the City of Prince George in B.C. as the director of infrastructure.
“City manager for a great organization like the City of Melfort is a great opportunity to jump at,” Homes said. “And getting back to Saskatchewan was very important for my family, so it’s great to be back.”
Officially starting at the city at the end of February, Homes came in as budget deliberations were rolling along. Homes said getting the budget completed and approved is something he’s looking forward too before the next steps in his new role as city manager.
“Next, I’m looking forward to sitting down with council and figuring out what our strategic plan is going to look like for the next four years,” he said.
Homes added that he’s held a number of positions with various municipalities and says that experience, as well as his passion for municipal government, will fair well with the City of Melfort.
“With local government, we can actually do things that impact our lives, our community, and make things better,” Homes said. “So, that’s what I enjoy doing.”
Outside of the office, Homes said he and his family are excited to enjoy this part of the province and explore the local parks. Homes is also excited to play paintball once again with his old team.
