The Melfort Fire Department had their awards banquet interrupted by a fire call Firday night.
The department was called to reports of a large grassfire north of Melfort shortly before 7:30 pm.
A significant area of dry grass was burning along the edge of a slough upon their arrival.
The fire was soon contained and extinguished.
The department thanks the Buckingham family for helping to pull a fire engine out of a low, wet area of the slough.
